Wildfire in the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge Impacting Outer Banks

Going on vacation to the Outer Banks soon? You might want to read about the wildfire in the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, over near Manteo. As this video shows, the smoke from the wildfire is having a significant impact on OBX

The N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources is releasing regular air quality advisories, which can be found here. You know has Washed DC has Code Orange days when the heat and humidity is just nasty here? North Carolina is experiencing Code Red and Code Purple days. Yeah. I know. The map below is from Monday.
Unfortunately I have seen almost no coverage of this in the Washed DC media market, even though smoke from the fire has been detected in Washed DC and many many folk in Washed DC have that "OBX" sticker on their bumper.
