You know has Washed DC has Code Orange days when the heat and humidity is just nasty here? North Carolina is experiencing Code Red and Code Purple days. Yeah. I know. The map below is from Monday.

Unfortunately I have seen almost no coverage of this in the Washed DC media market, even though smoke from the fire has been detected in Washed DC and many many folk in Washed DC have that "OBX" sticker on their bumper.
